Tickets are now on sale for London Transport Museum's ever-popular Hidden London tours from 10 January to the end of March 2024.
Last year, the public voted them the ‘Best Hidden Gem in the World' at the Tiqets' Remarkable Venue Awards 2022. Details of tours that are running until the end of March have been released, but not all of them will be available on all dates throughout the whole period. Prices for most tours are to £44 for adults, with concession reductions available.
All of the tours have been written by historical experts from London Transport Museum using content from the Museum's extensive archive and collection.
The Hidden London tours that will run until the end of March are:
- Piccadilly Circus: The Heart of London, combines a tour of disused parts of Piccadilly Circus Underground station with lunch at the famous Hard Rock Café. Because this tour includes lunch, its cost is £69 for adults.
- Charing Cross: Access all areas takes visitors under Trafalgar Square to explore areas of Charing Cross station that are not accessible to the public, including the Jubilee line platforms that were closed in 1999 but have been used in many film and TV productions.
- Baker Street: The World's First Underground delves into one of the oldest underground railway stations in the world to explore closed-off parts of the station including original platforms, disused lift shafts and corridors that were last used in 1945.
- Euston: The Lost Tunnels goes into the station's disused dark and dusty passageways with their gallery of preserved vintage advertising poster fragments that have been concealed for over 50 years.
- Shepherd's Bush: Suburbs to the City relives the time when this was one of the busiest stations on the underground as the original western terminus of today's Central line.
- Clapham South: Subterranean Shelter steps back in time to the the Second World War when south Londoners sheltered there during the blitz. There is a reduced price of £37 for adults for this tour.
- Aldwych: The End of the Line tours this forgotten station which opened in 1907 and closed in 1994. As well as providing shelter to Londoners during the Blitz, it is popular film and TV producers.
- Secrets of Central London Walking Tour, takes visitors around Theatreland, Covent Garden, Kingsway, and the Embankment to discover little-known facts about the area.
- Hidden London: Discovering the Forgotten Underground. This is a virtual tour held via Zoom that takes a journey through 160 years of the London Underground's history to explore how the network grew, and how some stations became forgotten, disused, or transformed for other uses.
