A 12-year-old railway enthusiast now has the honour of being the youngest person to adopt one of 's stations on .

Keiran Glover grew up very close to St Helen's Junction station, which resulted in him developing a passion for trains, and having the ability to even identify them by their sound.

After reading about station adoption on the Northern's website, he contacted Northern's community team, offering to become a at the station.

Keiran's offer was accepted, and now he has a number of plans to improve the station, including putting up artwork, planting biodiverse flowers to encourage wildlife, and collecting litter.

To help Keiran with his plans Keiran receives funding from Northern, but he has also set up an Amazon Wishlist from which the community can purchase items to support his plans; Keiran's Amazon Wishlist can be found here.

Keiran said: “I already have lots of ideas that will help the station look better that I can't wait to see them come to life. I have a couple of friends that are going to help too.”

Lauryn Glover, Keiran's Mum, said: “Keiran is really looking forward to getting cracking and making a great place for people to catch the train. At the moment we will be litter picking at the station and then when spring comes, we plan to start planting.”

Craig Harrop, regional director at Northern said: “We are so pleased to have Keiran on board and that someone so young is interested in being a station adopter. I can't wait to see the transformation of St Helen's Junction.”
