As reported last week, London's Docklands Light Railway will not run tomorrow or Wednesday, as workers strike after rejecting a below-inflation pay offer.
Transport for London (TfL) is advising passengers to plan ahead, consider alternative routes, check before travelling and allow extra time for their journeys. The latest information can be found here or on the TfL Go app.
The workers' trade union, RMT, has called the strike action as pat of its efforts to secure a higher pay rise from the DLR operator, KeolisAmey Docklands (KAD). KAD is the latest in a series of private companies to have operated the DLR on a franchise from TfL.
TfL is reminding passengers that London Buses, the Elizabeth line, London Overground, London Underground and IFS Cloud Cable Car services will operate as normal but may be busier than usual. Some local buses will run more frequently during the strike to provide additional capacity. Santander Cycles and e-scooters, which are part of the TfL trial, will be available for hire.
TfL's advice to passengers is as follows:
Tuesday 7 and Wednesday 8 November
- No service expected to run on the whole of the DLR
- If any services run, they will be very limited, and will start later and finish much earlier than normal.
- All other services on the TfL network will operate a normal service.
- TfL advises passengers to plan ahead, to consider alternative routes, to check before they travel, and to allow more time to complete their journey.
- People travelling to the WTM London event are advised to use Elizabeth line services to Custom House, or the IFS Cloud Cable Car services from Greenwich North to Royal Docks, which is about a fifteen-minute walk to event venue ExCeL London.
Thursday 9 November
- Services on 9 November may experience disruption in the morning.
Glynn Barton, TfL's Chief Operating Officer, said: “I'm sorry for any disruption this strike action causes if it goes ahead, but it's not too late for the RMT to call off these strikes and come to an agreement with our operator, KeolisAmey Docklands, and allow our customers to travel easily.
“Our advice for our customers is clear; plan ahead, consider alternative routes, check before you travel and allow extra time to complete your journeys.”
