Northern is looking for a group of volunteers to help care for Buckshaw Parkway Station in Greater Manchester and on the Manchester to Preston Line, near Euxton Junction.
Station adopters or groups often known as ‘Friends of' are volunteers from the community local to a station. The adopters aim to encourage engagement between the local community and their station via an array of projects in order to make it a more welcoming environment, including:
- Gardening
- Floral displays
- Artwork
- Partnerships with local schools
- Working with community support groups
Northern has 480 stations with more than half with station adopters in place working with the rail operator to keep stations looking tidy and inviting.
The rail operator is also looking for groups to adopt stations in the Greater Manchester area, including:
- Burnage
- East Didsbury
- Gatley
- Heald Green
- Trafford Park
- Humphrey Park
- Chassen Road
- Flixton
