Police issue witness appeal after serious assault at Sheffield

Detectives have issued an appeal for anyone who witnessed a serious assault at station to come forward.

The assault took place shortly before 21.00 on Saturday 5 August. An altercation took place after the train had arrived at Sheffield, with the resulted in the victim sustaining a fractured skull as well as a bleed on the brain.

The victim had boarded the train at and the service stopped at prior to its arrival at Sheffield.  The victim had a disagreement with a group of men.  The group boarded the train at Wakefield and left the service at Sheffield.

An earlier appeal helped to identify four men who are now assisting police with their enquiries but officers hope that, as a result of this appeal, more witnesses will come forward.
