Lincolnshire to see increased service reliability as Network Rail renews two sections of track

Network Rail is carrying out track renewal and improvement to level crossing infrastructure at two sites in Lincolnshire in a bid to increase reliability for passengers.

Engineers will begin work from Friday the 22nd of September at the following locations:

• Hubberts Bridge level crossing and station
• Boston West level crossing on the A52, Sleaford Road

During the period of work, rail services will be disrupted between Nottingham and Skegness, with rail replacement buses operating and road closures in place at both crossings.

Work taking place at Hubberts Bridge: 

• Hubberts Bridge station will close on the night of Friday the 22nd of September and re-open on the morning of Monday the 25th of September.
• Work will be ongoing through the night until Thursday the 28th of September.
• Hubberts Bridge Road's junction with A1121 will be closed to traffic from 22.00 on Friday the 22nd through to 6.30 on Thursday the 28th of September.
• Pedestrians will not be able to use the crossing over the weekend, however, access by foot will be returned on Monday the 25th of September.
• Diversion signs will be in place for all traffic.

Work taking place at the Boston West level crossing: 

• A52 Sleaford Road over the level crossing with be closed for both vehicles and pedestrians from 21.30 on Friday the 22nd to 7.00 on Monday the 25th of September
• Overnight closures from 21.30 to 6.00 on Monday the 25th and Tuesday the 26th of September
• Pedestrian access to Boston railway station can be made via the footbridge over the line which will remain open during the work
• A signed traffic diversion will be in place for road vehicles

The crossing which sits just south of Boston railway station will see the track replaced along with the deck of the level crossing, after which it will be re-tarmacked and the road markings repainted.

Rail replacement bus service: 

Saturday the 23rd and Sunday the 24th of September will see East Midlands Railway run a rail replacement bus service between Sleaford and Skegness with stops as follows.

• Heckington
• Boston
• Wainfleet

Train services will return to normal on the morning of Monday the 25th of September.

Passengers travelling during the period of work are advised to check their travel ahead of making their journeys using National Rail Enquiries or the East Midlands Railway website.

“We are asking any customers planning to travel to or from Skegness on 23 and 24 September to allow plenty of time to complete their journey.”
