All the locomotives are being sold as seen from their current location. DB Cargo UK is not offering any warranty, condition, or undertaking including but without limitation their quality, maintenance, state or fitness for purpose.

There is nothing in these that would exclude any liability which would be unlawful for DB Cargo UK to limit or exclude, including the company's title to dispose of the locomotives.

Successful bidder(s) will be required to remove the locomotives from their current locations at times to be agreed with DB Cargo and at their own expense.

You can find out more about the tender on the DB Cargo website.

This is not the first time main line locomotives have been offered for sale, as in June, Direct Rail Services (DRS) offered three Class 37s for sale, and in August Network Rail offered three Class 73s for sale.

  • It does seem to me that the government should insist on electric haulage where possible to minimise use of fossil fuel. The train company should receive compensation for the extra cost.

  • Let’s have some sort of sence ok engery prices have risen though the roof, how ever the railways are not fit for 21st century Britain, the railways have have 50 years of cuts this includes many rail lines and stations and the issue is its all well and good have electric locos and trains but if less than half of the railways are electric then how can you use the electric trains well you can’t so your limited to the over crowded main lines that are not able to deal with increasing numbers of trains not to mention the national grid can’t cope with the demands put on it by the railways people don’t realise how much energy a single train uses to work on the railways it’s crazy and now we are at that point which many knew about years ago that we can’t grow any greener or use more electric cars or trains until we upgrade the railways network to cater for the electric trains and then the national grid needs to update its network to power this green electric power but now we are at a point were we need to wait for power plants to be built which takes years then on top of this the railways also need to be modified and updated so this paints a awful picture of why you see electric trains out of use and beeing sold its the cost to run them the cost to maintain them and its the cost of storing them and it becomes more effective to sell stock that won’t be used for a very long time by which time thay will sezz up and be worthless thus is a cutting ur loss exercise and thay will just use the older diesel engines instead for the foreseeable then thay will waste more money on buying new trains in a few years if thay are forced to by government plans for so called net 0 which will never happen as you use power to make power which every way u do it we are playing catch up we are paying for political parties desions of the 70s 80s and 90s its now coming home to roost and we all now pay for it and will do for many years to come its why you see all the so called green plans like ulz which are just a form of tax.

  • If db are not happy with electric power bills and can alter things can we all go back to coal.as db still want to.use diesel if big boys use fossil fuel where does public come in

  • If electric is the fuel of future needs to be nationlised call it british electriciry or privatation will exterminate like all other fuel and water contols

  • A lot of these haven’t moved for years, so hopefully they will be back on the railway soon once they are our of the useless dB cargo ownership

  • Hear Hear, you are spot on my friend.
Our railways will never be any good as long as we have corrupt anti rail people trying to run them.

  • Sad to see the Government’s fake Net Zero agenda with high electricity prices has led to this. The Government’s corruption and criminality know no bounds!
