Last Sunday (13 August), Groudle Glen Railway on the Isle of Man hosted a day of open-air concerts at Sea Lion Rocks and was lucky to have sunny weather!
Its steam locomotives Sea Lion and Otter spent the whole day ‘topping and tailing' three bogie coaches. The trains were packed with passengers: families, visitors and locals all took the opportunity to enjoy the concerts in the unique location of Sea Lion Rocks station.
The Cliff Top Concerts at Sea Lion Rocks station are an annual event, and this year included performances from Matt Creer, Mine's a Shanty, Ellan Vannin Pipes and Drums, Rushen Silver Band and The Shenanigans Banned. The concerts ran from 11am to 4:30pm.
Groudle Glen's next special event is its Steam Gala on Sunday 17 September. Also, tickets are now available online for the ‘Not So Scary' Hop tu Naa trains at the end of October. Hop tu Naa is a Celtic festival celebrated in the Isle of Man on 31 October each year.
The railway and tea rooms are now open on Wednesday evenings between 7pm and 9pm. The Manx Electric Railway shuttle services run until the end of August and on Sundays 11am to 4:30pm until the end of October.
