East Midlands Railway reminds passengers of upcoming strike action this weekend

The rail operator will see no services operate this Friday the 1st and can only provide limited services on Saturday the 2nd of September

is reminding its customers of upcoming strike action by unions and , which will mean that no railway services will operate on Friday the 1st of September and significantly reduced services in operation on Saturday the 2nd of September.

Saturday the 2nd of September will see most routes operating one train each hour with reduced operating hours from 6.30 to 18.30 and last departures much earlier than usual between 15.00 and 16.3o.

During the strike action, customers of the rail operator are advised only to travel if completely necessary and, if doing so, to be aware of the departure times of the last train ahead of leaving for a journey. Passengers travelling also need to be aware that the strike action will affect other rail operator's routes across the country.

Customers travelling to are advised to book journeys ahead. Those who have already purchased their tickets can use them on either the service before or after.

Customers travelling whose train is cancelled or delayed or those who opt not to travel during the industrial action can alter ticket dates or return them for a full refund via the point of purchase.

Travel on Saturday the 2nd of September is affected as follows: 

EMR Intercity:

  • One Train Per Hour between Nottingham and London St Pancras
  • One Train Per Hour between and London St Pancras

EMR Connect:

  • One Train Per Hour between Corby and London St Pancras

EMR Regional:

  • One Train per Hour between and Nottingham
  • One Train per Hour between Derby and
  • One Train per Hour between Sheffield and Nottingham
  • One Train per Hour between and Nottingham (Stopping Service)
  • Two hourly services between Nottingham and Skegness, which will only call at , , and Skegness

Other East Midlands Railway lines will be closed with no rail replacement bus services available. 

Will Rogers, Managing Director for East Midlands Railway, said:

“On Friday, September 1, we will run no services due to industrial action by ASLEF – the train drivers' union.”

“While on Saturday, September 2, we will be significantly reducing our services due to action by members of the RMT Union.”

“It is recommended that customers check the departure time of their last train before embarking on their journey and familiarise themselves with the overall impact of the strike on their entire route.”
