Exeter welcomes model railway exhibition this weekend

The Exe Model Railway Society's 2023 Model Railway Exhibition takes place this weekend in , .

The event runs on Saturday (22 July) from 10am until 5pm, and Sunday (23 July) from 10am until 4pm, at the Matford Livestock Centre.

Visitors will be able to view over forty different layouts and demonstrations, including many notable model railways.

Layouts on display will include:

  • 00 Gauge – Bere Banks, Claymore Railway, Dagnell End, Pengwynn Crossing, Teigncombe, Bishop Street Yard, Rosebury Goods, Cheffley, Portishead TMD, Ruan
  • 0 Gauge – Chard Junction, Central, Norman Colliery, Uffculme
  • H0 Gauge – Zweinuck, Bahnbretriebswerk Dugelshausen, Antwerps Viskade, Fulton Terminal, The Rockville Branch, Pontresina
  • N Gauge – , Box File Layouts, Upperton, Moors View. Exeter N Gauge are bringing La Shuttle, Treleavnen's Folly and ‘small ‘N' it'

Demonstrations and activities will include:

  • Robert's Railway Repairs
  • Modern Modelling Demonstration
  • Exeter 0 Gauge Group.

Associations taking part include:

  • 2mm Scale Association
  • Diesel and Electric Modellers United (DEMU)
  • EM Gauge Society
  • South Western Circle.

Plenty of traders will also be present, and expected to include:

  • Wessex Wagons
  • K&M Trees
  • Mudmagnet Models
  • Chris' Crafts and Model Railways

  • Modelworks
  • Collectors Club
  • DMG Electech
  • David Smith's Railway Books

Making its debut at the event this year will be live steam rides outside, offered by the Exeter and District Model Engineers for £2 per person.

Entrance to the event costs £7.50, with accompanied children admitted without charge.

The venue is accessible to disabled visitors and there is plenty of free parking. There is a restaurant on site.

The Exe Model Railway Society was set up in 1964. It meets twice a week, and hosts this exhibition every year.
