Merseyrail’s plans for The National Lottery’s Big Eurovision Welcome

With a week of festivities in coming up for the Eurovision Song Contest, has announced special arrangements for the launch of festivities tomorrow, Sunday, 7th May, at The National Lottery's Big Eurovision Welcome.

As thousands of revellers descend upon Liverpool City Centre to enjoy the launch of the festivities, Merseyrail will do its best to get them to the event and home afterwards, with special late-night services running after midnight.

On the Northern and Wirral lines:

  • A Sunday timetable will run every 30 minutes.
  • Extra late-night services will run after The National Lottery's Big Eurovision Welcome.
  • Low-Level station will be closed all day because of its vicinity to the event.

After 20:00:

  • station will be closed.
  • Passengers travelling from Liverpool city centre on the Wirral line can only travel from Station.
  • Passengers wanting to travel on the Northern line can only travel from station.

Late-night trains:

Late-night trains on Northern and Wirral lines will run into the early hours of Monday, 8th May calling at all stations., with the last trains as follows:

  • line: The last train will depart from Liverpool Central at 00:30
  • line: The last train will depart from Liverpool Central at 00:18
  • line: The last train will depart from Liverpool Central at 00:24
  • line: The last train will depart from Moorfields at 00:11
  • line: The last train will depart from Moorfields at 00:22
  • line: The last train will depart from Moorfields at 00:27
  • line: The last train will depart from Moorfields at 00:18
  • Wirral line passengers will only be able to board late-night trains at Liverpool Central, and Northern line passengers at Moorfields. At all other stations, passengers can only alight and exit the station.

There will be no passenger services into Liverpool city centre after the end of the normal timetable.

Anyone intending to travel should check their train times and information before they travel by visiting Merseyrail.org.
