‘Do Not Travel’ notice given by Northern as RMT strike set to cause disruption next week!

has warned its customers throughout the North of England ‘Do Not Travel' whilst the strikes are taking place on 13th-14th and 16th-18th December

The RMT is carrying out further strike action made up of two 48-hour walkouts which will take place on the 13th and 14th of December and the 16th and 17th of December. Northern is also warning of further impact between the strike days on the 15th of December which in effect equals a five-day travel ban for rail passengers.

Most of Northern's services will be cancelled whilst the strike action is underway with just a small number of services operating as well as the majority of its 500+ stations being closed.

Tricia Williams, chief operating officer at Northern, said: “This is the last thing we want to do in the run-up to Christmas, but with the RMT pressing ahead with these 48-hour strikes, we have no option but to advise customers not to travel. We can only apologise once again for the their action will cause.”

The few routes which are able to operate services will run hourly between 07.30am and 6.30pm are as follows:

Customers are advised to check ahead of travelling if they are planning to use one of the limited services which are operating during the strike action.

Sunday the 11th of December will see Northern's new timetable come into action and customers (especially those who travel regularly on the same service) are urged to check ahead of making their journey using online journey planners before travelling to make sure that their service is operating as expected and calling at the same stations.
