Wednesday the 5th of October will see some areas of the rail network disrupted due to the industrial action and will include the following rail operators: Avanti West Coast, Chiltern, CrossCountry, East Midlands Trains, Greater Anglia (including Stansted Express), Great Western, Hull Trains, LNER, London Overground, Northern Trains, Southeastern, Transpennine Express and West Midlands Trains.
Further disruption for passengers using early morning services will also take place on Thursday the 6th of October as workers come back to their duties.
Passengers can check their travel plans using revised timetables on the National Rail website and rail operator's journey planners.
2 UEFA football fixtures and 6 EFL fixtures will be impacted by the strike action alongside major events such as Grand Design Live and the final day of the Conservative Party conference in Birmingham.
Daniel Mann, director of industry operations at the Rail Delivery Group, said: “These strikes disrupt the travel plans of millions of passengers and undermine businesses who continue to struggle with rising costs and this continued action will only further damage the railway's recovery.
“While some rail companies are not involved in the strike, services are likely to be busy, severely disrupted or in some cases not running, so passengers should check the latest travel advice before setting off. Passengers with advance, off-peak or anytime tickets affected by the strikes on 5 October can use their ticket on the day before the booked date, or up to and including 7 October. Passengers can also change their tickets to travel on an alternate date or get a refund if their train is cancelled or rescheduled.”
Union RMT is also holding further strike action on Saturday the 8th of October and will affect Network Rail staff members alongside 14 rail operators. A walkout by members of the TSSA will also impact CrossCountry trains on Wednesday the 5th of October, Great Western Railway on Thursday the 6th and Friday the 7th of October and Avanti and c2c on Saturday the 8th of October.
Customers who have already booked their travel for Wednesday the 5th of October are able to use their ticket on the 4th of October and up to and including Friday the 7th of October.
Customers who hold Season Tickets or who have activated days' worth of travel using their Flexi Season Ticket and opt not to travel on the 5th of October will be able to claim compensation for these days using the Delay Repay scheme. Weekly Season Ticket holders are also able to claim via Delay Repay if their train is cancelled or delayed or a ‘Do Not Travel' warning has been applied.
Anyone who must travel on the strike days and has already purchased a ticket should check via their train operator ahead of travelling regarding the flexibility of their ticket.
