Certain North Yorkshire and Cumbria residents can now apply for a Dales Railcard that will allow them to have half-price off-peak day fares on the Bentham and Settle and Carlisle lines this winter.
Rail operator, Northern, is encouraging people to leave the car behind and take the train.
The ‘Dales Railcard' will be valid on off-peak services between Sunday, 30 October 2022 and Saturday, 1 April 2023.
This means tickets from Bentham to Leeds via Skipton will cost £9.40 return, Appleby to Carlisle just £5.05 return and Settle to Carlisle via Appleby will be just £12 return.

Mark Powles, customer and commercial director at Northern, said: “The ‘Dales Railcard' is a great example of Northern and community rail groups working together for the benefit of local people.
“During the winter months, when the number of tourists exploring the Dales by rail is lower, we have extra capacity on our services – which allows us to offer this special discount.

Northern is the second largest train operator in the UK, with nearly 2,000 services a day to more than 500 stations across the North of England.
