Elizabeth Line Rail Trail raises more than £43,000 for Rail Aid 2022

The Rail Trail has seen more than £43,000 raised for Rail Aid 2022 and over 20 companies from the rail industry taking part. The 15-mile walk took place above ground between Woolwich and Paddington with participants checking in at every station on the route, collecting a stamp at each one.

Around 200 people took part in the fundraising Elizabeth Line Rail Trail walk on the 7th of October.

The event was organised by Transport for London and MTR and was sponsored by SMCB. Teams were made up from right across the rail industry including , Angel, MTR, ORR, Transport for , Worldline, RDG, RSSB, and . The event also saw teams from HMRC, London Southbank University and the NHS.

Andy Byford who is 's Commissioner alongside the full MTR Executive took part in the charity walk with each step raising funding for vulnerable children.

Jack Miller, Group Director of Fundraising for Railway Children said: “What started as a germ of an idea 9 months ago turned out to be an incredible experience. We can't thank TfL, MTR and SMBC leasing enough for backing the idea and making it a reality.

“With almost 200 participants from across the industry, it was amazing so many turned up to take part. The atmosphere was so positive and upbeat all the way and every step raised vital funds to support vulnerable children.

“A huge thank you to all our volunteers and we hope everyone who took part enjoyed it as much as we did.”
