Pre-booking is essential for this stunning steam experience which will see both the locomotive and carriages festooned with lights.

Book your tickets early to enjoy Railway's popular Steam and Light experience and you can save up to 20% for tickets booked before the 6th October

The beautifully lit train will create a swathe of colour as it makes a round trip passing the ruins of . Passengers will also enjoy the festive decoration onboard and of course the cosy steam-heated carriages during the one-hour excursion.

The experience will also see stations and key areas on the line lit especially for the Steam and Lights train to pass in the dark making for some spectacular views. Festive music onboard the train will also be synchronised with light displays outside and there will also be a fantastic and informative on-train commentary.

Ahead of getting on the Steam and Lights train at Swanage station, passengers will enjoy a dramatic switch-on of lights on the platform and the train.

The festive event offers a wonderful and memorable experience for all ages, please note that there is no Santa on Steam and Lights experiences.

Steam and Light train tickets must be booked ahead and the train can only be joined at Swanage station where the journey begins and ends.

Trains will leave Swanage station at 17.15 and 19.15 and the round trip lasts approximately one hour.

PLEASE NOTE: This event features some flashing lights and may therefore be unsuitable for those with epilepsy.
