A new printed timetable from Greater Anglia intends to boost tourism in small towns and villages close to railway lines in Suffolk.
East Suffolk Lines Community Rail Partnership has produced 20,000 timetables in partnership with Greater Anglia to support people planning car-free days out to attractions and popular tourist locations throughout Norfolk and Suffolk.
The timetables can be found at staffed stations including London Liverpool Street, Cambridge, Norwich, Great Yarmouth and Ipswich as well as the Beccles station cafe, Wickham Market station cafe, Visit Felixstowe Beach Hut Tourist Information Centre and Woodbridge Tourist Information Centre.
Aaron Taffera, Chair of the East Suffolk Lines Community Rail Partnership said: “We're delighted to help promote car-free, sustainable days out in Suffolk. People can use the timetables to plan some great days out and at the same time help to reduce congestion and pollution in our villages, towns and popular tourist hotspots.”
Alan Neville, Greater Anglia's Customer and Community Engagement Manager, said: “There was a pause in printing paper timetables during the pandemic when frequent service changes made it impossible to create a reliable printed leaflet, so we are delighted to have worked with the East Suffolk Lines on this now that things are much more stable.
“With these handy timetables and Greater Anglia's great value fares, families and day trippers can leave the car at home and discover the wonders of these scenic rail lines and the fascinating towns, villages and attractions that are within easy reach.”
The East Suffolk Lines Community Rail Partnership brings together representatives from the local transport authority, local planning authorities, rail operating companies and infrastructure operators alongside an array of local community groups with a focus on supporting the future of the railway lines which run between Ipswich, Lowestoft and Felixstowe.
The East Suffolk Lines are served by Greater Anglia's brand new trains which offer many customer benefits such as increased seating, air conditioning, plug and USB points, fast free wifi as well as improvements in accessibility features such as accessible toilets on every train.
