Preliminary findings released after passenger dragged by Manchester Metrolink tram

The Rail Accident Investigation Branch has said that it has completed a preliminary examination into an incident in where a passenger was dragged by a tram at .

At around 11:16 on the 27th May 2022, the passenger sustained injuries to their face and hand when they were dragged 13 metres at Shudehill tram stop. Eventually, they fell on to the platform at the tram stop.

The passenger was found to have been dragged because their bag became trapped in the closing doors of the tram.

The tram driver was unaware of the passenger when he started departing from the tram stop.

After the preliminary examination of the incident, the Rail Accident Investigation Branch has decided to publish a safety digest, which will be made available in the next few weeks.
