station in will reopen on Monday, 13th June, a week later than planned, because engineering works have been impacted by supply chain issues.

Situated south of Glasgow city centre on the north bank of the River Clyde and below the M8 and Kingston Bridge, the station has been closed for the last 12 weeks. The station has been extensively refurbished, including improvements to the concourse and platform areas.

However, worldwide supply chain problems have caused a shortage of electronic components, which has delayed key components required for the station's new light fittings. The delay means engineers require an extra week to complete, test, and commission the new lighting.

Work at the station is part of a £32m investment to repair and renew tunnels, bridges, and tracks on the Argyle line. It is designed to improve punctuality, reliability, and the passenger experience for years to come.

Although Anderston station will reopen on 13th June, work will continue until the project is completed in the late autumn. The refurbishment includes a new lift for better customer access, a remodelled booking office, and modern finishes to the stairs, floors, and ceilings. Outside the station, improvements include a new-look glazed entrance and enhanced external lighting.

Tommy McPake, Network Rail programme manager, said:

“Given the challenges of supply chain issues facing many industries at the moment, unfortunately, the railway is not immune to this.

“The knock-on effect of delayed materials means that we are not in a position to re-open until the new lighting has been tested and that we are satisfied it is fully compliant with our rigorous safety standards.

“We fully appreciate the inconvenience to passengers caused by the station remaining closed for a further week – we sincerely apologise for this and thank passengers for their continued patience.”
