To celebrate Her Majesty The Queen's Platinum Jubilee weekend, c2c has produced a map highlighting the numerous royal-themed points of interest along its route between London and southeast Essex.
Highlights include:
- Barking station, which was opened by Queen Elizabeth II in 1961 after the booking hall was rebuilt between 1959-61;
- The Royal Gunpowder Magazines at Purfleet, which were built in 1759 to store gunpowder for the army and navy;
- Tilbury Fort, which was built by Henry VIII to protect London against France and also played an important role in the Napoleonic War and World War I. The fort is owned by English Heritage and is one of the finest examples of a 17th-century bastion.

Train operator c2c has also published a guide to the many free festivities taking place during the long weekend for people of all ages. These include Southend's Music in the Park at Priory Park, and Focal Point Gallery's Creative Open Day, which is running a range of activities including a community street art project.

To make travelling to the festivities in London and Essex quicker and easier during the bank holiday weekend, c2c customers are encouraged to buy tickets in advance on their c2c Smartcard. Tickets can be bought online three or more days in advance with a saving of 40% on Off-Peak Return tickets. Weekends, also offer extra savings as tickets are the same price as Off-Peak weekdays. For example, a return between London Fenchurch Street and Southend is only £12.00 with this discount.
Children can also benefit from its ‘Kids for £2,' which is available to buy during all school holidays and weekends. Up to four children aged 5-15 can travel for just £2 each whenever an adult buys an off-peak ticket online for travel across c2c's route.
Child Smartcards can be ordered online and simply link to an adult's c2c account. The c2c Train Travel app can also be used to add discounted child tickets straight onto a Smartcard for greater security and durability.
And with c2c to introduce their new 5-Car trains to operate on Fenchurch St-Shoeburyness, Southend Central, Leigh-on-Sea and Laindon including using them for rush hour morning and evening peak later this year.
