This Easter, between Saturday the 2nd and Monday the 18th of April, will see London Transport's Lost Property Office at London Transport Museum in Covent Garden, create a trail around the museum's galleries.
The fascinating trail will reveal fun facts about objects from past to present which have been lost and found on London's Tube trains and buses.
The Lost Property Office first opened in 1933 and now homes over 15 million objects, from everyday items such as hats, bags and toys to the unusual and extraordinary. Children's authors Emily Rand and Kate Wilkinson will also be at the museum on selected dates and will be reading from their books, which have been inspired by the lost treasures.
Emily will be reading from her book ‘The Lost Property Office' and will also be getting creative with collage as families get to make their own item of lost property to add to Emily's Lost Property Office installation. This event is best suited to families with children aged 4 to 7 years and will take place each day from Monday the 4th to Wednesday the 6th of April with sessions running at 11.00, 12.00, 13.00, 14.30, 15.30, each session lasts around 30 minutes.
Kate will be reading from her book ‘Edie and the Box of Flits' discovering secrets of the Lost Property Office and how Edie gets mixed up in an adventure involving spooky ghost stations, a web of underground tunnels with a whole world just out of sight. This event is best suited for families with children aged from 7 to 12 years and will run each day from Saturday the 9th to Tuesday the 12th of April with sessions running at 11.00, 12.00, 13.00, 14.30, 15.30, each session lasts around 30 minutes.
A SEND Early Explorer Morning will be held on Saturday the 9th of April from 8:30 to 10:00, where families can explore the museum during a quiet period. Children can enjoy the All Aboard family galleries, join author Kate Wilkinson to hear a story about a box lost on the Underground and get hands-on with actual parts of transport history via an Object Handling trolley.
A competition will also be held to win signed copies of Emily Rand's The Lost Property Office and Kate Wilkinson's Edie and the Box of Flits along with a selection of goodies from the Museum shop.
