The is looking to recruit a Visitor Services & Volunteering Officer to lead and develop the visitor experience at the railway.

This is a new role where the successful applicant will help to tell the railway's story and enhance the experience it gives its customers. The aim is that the role will help to drive up customer service standards across the organisation.

The Visitor Services & Volunteering Officer will ensure that volunteering remains at the heart of what the railway does, manage how volunteers are welcomed throughout the organisation, and lead the customer-facing teams.
There is also a requirement to develop the education offering and to support the organisation and delivery of the events programme and marketing activity.

As the railway mainly operates at weekends, applicants must be comfortable working a significant proportion of weekends as that's when the trains run and the railway is at its busiest.

Working hours are 28 hours (or four days) per week with a salary of £21,000 Full Time Equivalent (£16,800 actual)

The railway operates both steam and diesel-hauled trains from its headquarters at Bitton between Bath and .

Trains are generally diesel-hauled on Saturdays and steam on Sundays as well as on any midweek days. Journeys last fifty minutes and trains travel both ways from Bitton station. Trains first travel north to the station at Oldland Common, where the train reverses and travels back south onto the more scenic part of the line to the station at Avon Riverside before returning to Bitton. Passengers can alight at either end of the line to watch the locomotive running round to the other end of the train.
