In early 2022 Network Rail is to carry out a vital £1.4 million project to strengthen and re-paint a railway bridge in Paisley.
The work will last from January 10 until the end of April 2022, and take place on the bridge at the town's Incle Street, and includes infilling a vacant building next to the bridge, and noisy rivet-bursting and grit blasting activities, steelwork repairs, and painting.
The road under the bridge will have lane closures in place for the duration of the work, with consequent delays, so that the project can be completed in the safest and most efficient way.
However, pedestrians and cyclists will continue to access the area under the bridge throughout the works.
Ahead of the work Network Rail will host an online information event on Monday, December 13 to allow members of the community to ask questions directly to the project team. Allison Flanagan, scheme project manager at Network Rail, said, “The essential works that we're carrying out at Incle Street will not only improve the look of the bridge, but will extend its lifespan for up to two decades. When complete, the bridge and the vacant building will be stronger and better protected against the elements, allowing us to continue to run a safe and reliable railway.
“The lane closures will allow us to complete the works safely and efficiently, and while some delays are expected, we appreciate the patience and support of the community during this time.”
