The Holden F5 Locomotive Trust is has published their latest update containing the current progress on building new build Great Eastern Railway (GER) M15R / London and North Eastern Railway (LNER) F5 Class No.789.

Radial Trucks

A lot of research has been carried out to find details and measurements in order to produce Computer Aided Design (CAD) drawings, work which has progressed well thanks to researcher Graham Rowland and CAD Engineer and CME Elliot Powick.

January 2022 will see the material for the radial trucks ordered.

Frame

At Tyseley Locomotive Works the frame is progressing well. Drilling and cutting of the bunker base plate has been completed to allow the handbrake column to be attached.

The steel plate has been machined and fitted for the steps and splashers on the engine.

2021 in Review

The team have made brilliant progress this year on many fronts in building No.789. Majority of this taking place at Tyseley, where assembly of the frame took place, chimney fitted onto of smokebox and the coal bunker at the rear of the locomotive attached.
