New Waterside Wanderer ticket makes days out easier in New Forest, Hythe, and Waterside area

A new combined train, bus, and ferry ticket has been launched that covers the New Forest, Hythe, and Waterside area of Hampshire.

The new Waterside Wanderer ticket results from a partnership between (SWR), the , and other local public transport providers.

Costing just £13.50, the ticket covers areas from Winchester to the New Forest, including destinations such as Winchester, Romsey, Southampton, Hythe, and the New Forest.

The ticket provides:

  • unlimited off-peak rail travel within the ticket zone;
  • unlimited travel on any Bluestar 8 or 9 bus;
  • a return journey on the Quayconnect shuttle bus;
  • one journey on the Unilink U1C bus;
  • one journey on the Unilink U1A bus;
  • a return journey on the Hythe Ferry;
  • a return journey on the Hythe Pier Railway.

The Waterside Wanderer ticket can be purchased from staffed ticket offices at any of the SWR stations shown on the ticket zone map, from the train guard, or in advance online directly from SWR at: https://bit.ly/SWR_Tickets where it will be posted to you.

Nick Farthing, Chair of the Three Rivers Community Rail Partnership and the driving force behind the new offer, said: “This new product provides the mechanism for visiting the Waterside and adjacent New Forest without taking the car. It allows seamless travel on rail, bus, and ferry with just one ticket, encouraging people to spend the day visiting attractions in the area, bringing much-needed visitors to the area and, in turn, supporting the local economy.”

Peter Williams, SWR's Commercial Director, said: “SWR is delighted to partner with the Three Rivers CRP, and other local transport providers to introduce this new initiative, making it easier than ever before for people to explore a spectacular area of our region without having to bring the car”.
