Steam locomotive 60163 Tornado will be back in steam on the mainline and will be in Tebay, Carlisle and Settle on Thursday 7th October 2021.
The A1 locomotive is on a section of a special railtour, with 60163 Tornado hauling The Northern Belle.
The tour starts from Coventry behind diesel locomotives. Departing Coventry at 07:18, the train will pass through Birmingham International (07:28), Wolverhampton (08:25), Stafford (08:42), Crewe (09:13), Warrington Bank Quay (09:47), Wigan North Western (09:56), Preston (10:10), Lancaster (10:27) and Carnforth North Junction at 10:36.
Here, 60163 Tornado is added to the train.
Departing Carnforth North Jn at 11:26, the locomotive will pass through Oxenholme Lake District (11:41), Tebay (11:57), Penrith North Lakes (12:20) and Carlisle at 12:41.
After around 2 hours in Carlisle, the train will depart at 14:19 and will pass through Lazonby & Kirkoswald (14:46), Appleby (15:06), Ribblehead (15:55), Hellifield (16:20), Clitheroe (17:11), Blackburn (17:33) and Preston at 17:54.
Here 60163 Tornado is taken off the train and is replaced by diesel locomotives. The tour returns to Coventry, calling at Crewe (19:38), Stafford (20:18), Wolverhampton (21:00), Birmingham International (21:40), and Coventry at 21:55.
