South Western Railway passengers now benefit from a new, simpler, Super Off-Peak ticketing system that will reduce travel costs for nearly 75% of passengers.
The operator previously offered two Super Off-Peak products, one for weekends, and one for weekdays, both had different time restrictions and prices.
These tickets have now been replaced by the Evening Out and Sunday Out fares for journeys up to an hour.
The operator has also introduced the Evening Out fares on routes that previously didn't have Super Off-Peak tickets, such as Woking to Southampton and Portsmouth.
Passengers will also see a price reduction as South Western Railway has rounded down to the nearest pound.
The time restrictions has been moved for arrivals into London from 12pm to 2pm.
On longer journeys, Super Off Peak Day tickets are being replaced by Super Off Peak return tickets.
Peter Williams, South Western Railway's Commercial Director, said: “Our customers told us that the existing Super Off-Peak tickets were difficult to understand and didn't cover a lot of our destinations. Having taken that feedback on board, from Sunday 5 September our Super Off-Peak fares are being replaced by a new simpler fare structure that covers more of our destinations.
“With leisure travel set to bounce back quickest following the pandemic, the vast majority of our customers will benefit from reduced fares when travelling off peak. We are confident that our customers will welcome the greater clarity and better value for money that these changes will bring.”

As South Western Railway have decided to retain the Class 458s when the Class 701 Arterios have entered service and the rest of the Class 707 units gone to Southeastern. The Class 458/5s will mostly operate between London Waterloo and Portsmouth Harbour via Guildford. Maybe SWR could allow the Class 458 to work on the Alton and Aldershot services and Basingstoke stopper.
