Train operator have announced that they have launched new ticket options between and .

From this week, the new open return fares are available between Scotland's two biggest cities, meaning that off-peak travel is available for just £18.40

Passengers can also get a return for anytime of the day for £30.

The new tickets are available at ticket offices and at self-service ticket machines. They are also available via the ScotRail app using the mTicket system and also online on the ScotRail website.

Lesley Kane, ScotRail Commercial Director, said: “This is another big step forward on the road to recovery from the pandemic.

“We have already made positive strides by reintroducing the First Class offering on board our trains and gradually reintroducing our hospitality service on the West Highland Line, but we know that we need to make changes to adapt to new travel patterns.”

“Remote working has meant less people using the trains to commute on a daily basis, but with staycations on the rise and people choosing not to travel abroad in the shorter term we hope to see more people choosing rail for leisure purposes.

“Our new Glasgow-Edinburgh Open Return tickets will benefit both the leisure and business market and I'm confident that these fares will help bring former customers back, and attract new ones, as we continue our work to ensure that Scotland's Railway is fit for the future.”
