Track workers involved in near miss with train at Eccles railway station

The has released details of a near miss involving railway working at Eccles Railway Station.

On the 22nd July around 04:12am, a train with empty coaching stock was travelling through Eccles Railway Station non-stop at 69mph.

The two railway workers were at track level painting white lines on the platform edge when the near-miss incident occurred.

There were no injuries or damage as a result of the incident.

The Rail Accident Investigation Branch has carried out a preliminary investigation into the incident at Eccles, and will be publishing a safety digest in the next few weeks.
