The Flexipass ticket is one of ScotRails most popular tickets allowing passengers to make 10 single journeys on the same route within a month receiving a variable discount of around 10% on journeys.
The Flexipass is particularly useful for those with a regular commute either to work, study or for leisure.
ScotRail has taken action to improve this popular ticketing option further by providing cheaper prices by standardising the discount throughout its network, and also giving passengers double the time to use the tickets on their Flexipass.
The new improved Flexipass was released on Monday the 2nd of August 2021 with the new standardised network-wide discount of 15% on 5 Anytime Return or Anytime Day Return tickets.
Customers taking advantage of the Flexipass will now benefit from 60 days to use their tickets. Customers who hold a Highland Railcard will also be able to use this with their Flexipass ticket providing them with a huge 50% discount on the new Flexipass price structure.
Flexipass is only available on Smartcard where Flexi journeys are kept securely, customers just tap in and out as their journey starts and ends and used tickets are removed from the card. Smartcards are free and can be ordered from the ScotRail website and then tickets purchased and loaded onto the card.
Flexipass tickets can be used on all ScotRail, CrossCountry and TransPennine Express journeys within Scotland and with 1,432 fares on the Flexipass ticketing system, a massive 98% of which will see a drop in their price with the new standardised discount applied.
Only 30 of the 1,432 will see an increase in the ticket price, below are some examples of the previous ticket prices vs the New Flexipass price:
- Glasgow to Edinburgh would previously have cost £126.50 and has now dropped to £113.10 a saving of £13.40
- Edinburgh to Linlithgow used to cost £49.40 and will now drop to £43.40 saving £6
- Glasgow to Mount Florida was £15.20 and will now be a lower price of £13.20 saving £2
- Glasgow to Polmont previously cost £87.20 and is now £81.20 saving £6
Examples of tickets that will see an increase are:
- Glasgow to Croy which was previously £30.70 and has risen to £33.20 an increase of £2.50
- Glasgow to Bishopbriggs was priced at £16.20 and will increase to £17.90 adding £1.70 to the previous price
- Glasgow to Stepps has also risen from £21.10 to £23.40 which is an extra £2.30
Lesley Kane, ScotRail Commercial Director, said: “As more passengers begin to return to the railway we want to reward them for their loyalty by extending the discount on the majority of the fares on one of our most popular ticket offers.
“Ten Journey Flexipass has worked really well for us and for customers for some time now, but we realise that in order to remain competitive, especially in the post-COVID world, we have to be agile with our product offering.
“We are confident passengers will love this new Flexipass ticket and look forward to welcoming more and more people back onto the railway as coronavirus restrictions continue to be eased.”
