Steam locomotive to pass through Blackburn this Saturday

Steam locomotive 46115 Scots Guardsman will be back in steam on the mainline and will be in Carlisle and Blackburn on Saturday 17th July 2021

The Scot locomotive is on a special railtour with 46115 Scots Guardsman is hauling the Cumbrian Mountain Express on Saturday.

Please note: we believe this tour to be part-hauled by 46115 Scots Guardsman. However, this is subject to change.

The railtour departs diesel hauled from Crewe at 05:29 and will head via Hartford (05:43), Runcorn (06:00) and Liverpool Lime Street (06:28), where 46115 is added to the train.

The railtour will then head for Carlisle, where it will pass through Roby (06:52), St Helens Central (07:04), Wigan North Western (07:28), Blackburn (08:45), Clitheroe (09:20), Hellifield (09:48), Ribblehead (10:54), Garsdale (11:10), Langwathby (11:48) and Carlisle at 12:33.

After around 3 hours in Carlisle, 46115 will depart Carlisle at 15:18 bound for Crewe. It will pass through Tebay (16:50), Oxenholme Lake District (17:03), Lancaster (18:11), Preston (18:32), Wigan North Western (19:21), St Helens Central (19:41), Liverpool Lime Street (20:12 – diesel replaces 46115 here), Edge  Hill (20:23), Runcorn (20:39) and Crewe at 21:15.
