Steam locomotive to depart Bristol Temple Meads this Wednesday

45231 The Sherwood Forester from Bristol Temple Meads

45231 The Sherwood Forester will be taking a railtour to Kingswear this Wednesday, 23rd June 2021.

The tour originates at Shrewsbury with a diesel locomotive hauling the first stage. Departing Shrewsbury at 05:42, the tour will pass through Church Stretton (06:01), Ludlow (06:17), Leominster (06:33), Hereford (06:53), Abergavenny (07:22), Cwmbran (07:39),  Severn Tunnel Junction (08:15), Patchway (08:30) and Bristol Temple Meads at 08:42.

Here, 45231 The Sherwood Forester takes over the train. Departing Bristol Temple Meads at 09:49, the steam locomotive will pass through Yatton (10:02), Taunton (11:00), Tiverton Parkway (11:37), Dawlish Warren (12:35), Teignmouth (12:42), Newton Abbot (12:48), Paignton (13:04) and Kingswear at 13:30, where the tour continues on to Dartmouth.

Once the tour returns from Dartmouth, the tour departs Kingswear at 16:30 and will then pass through Paignton (16:56), Dawlish (17:24), Exeter St Davids (17:41), Tiverton Parkway (18:11), Taunton (18:27), Bridgwater (19:05) and Bristol Temple Meads at 19:50.

At Bristol, the diesels take over from steam once again. Departing Bristol at 20:24, the tour retraces its steps to Shrewsbury, passing through Filton Abbey Wood (20:33), Severn Tunnel Junction (20:58), Cwmbran (21:50), Abergavenny (22:08), Hereford (22:39), Leominster (22:57), Ludlow (23:12), Church Stretton (23:35) and Shrewsbury at 23:54.
