As lockdown restrictions continue to ease more and more passengers are returning to rail travel and to help give reassurance to staff and passengers, testing kits are being offered to Govia staff.

Staff at Great Northern, , Thameslink and are being offered the testing kits from this week.

The at-home kits are just one of the measures being taken by GTR to help keep staff and stations safe.

Every one of its 2,700 carriages are sanitised daily by the train operator, and over 1,000 touch free hand sanitisers are installed at stations.

Mark Whitley, GTR's Head of Safety & Health, said: “We take the safety of our staff and the public extremely seriously. For months we've had test centres open for our colleagues. Now, the move to self-test kits will continue to help stem the spread of Covid-19, giving added reassurance to staff, as well as passengers as they return to the railway.”
