British Transport Police have launched an appeal for witnesses after an incident on the railway near Preston earlier this month.
The incident occurred on the bridge over the railway close to Lostock Hall railway station on the line which runs between Preston and Blackburn.
A paving stone was thrown from the bridge overnight on Saturday 5th June.
This paving stone caused damage to nine passing trains, along with electrical cables at the side of the line.
Around £20,000 of disruption costs were incurred due to the damage.
