Siemens Mobility has announced that they will be transforming a marshalling yard in the Netherlands with their state of the art rail technology.
ProRail B.V. has awarded the €110 million contract to Siemens, who will integrate their Trackguard Cargo MSR32, a fully automated management system, into the Kijfhoek marshalling yard.
This efficient system will ensure reliable and safe marshalling across the 50-hectare site, with 14 arrival tracks, 41 classification tracks and 12 stabling tracks.
Kijihoek plays a major part in the smooth running and growth in industry across Europe being the largest marshalling yard in the Netherlands, located near the major ports of Rotterdam and industrial activities in Europe.
The current schedule should see all planned work completed in 2024, with the yard running at 50% capacity throughout the duration of the upgrades.
Also included in the deal is the maintenance of the new systems, which will last for 15 years.
This new contract further strengthens the already great relationship between Siemens Mobility and ProRail B.V.
Siemens Mobility has in the past supplied and installed a range of different services they offer, improving the ways ProRail B.V. operate.
