The Class G5 Locomotive Company has announced when their first open day of 2021 will be, allowing the public to see what progress has been made.

The first open day will be held on Saturday 3rd July 2021 at their base in Shildon and past events have proven popular.

Staff and volunteers are currently busy making the unit ready to welcome visitors back.

The last open day was held more than 12 months ago, after the coronavirus pandemic forced the doors to close to the public in 2020.

More information will be available on the G5 Company website

In a recent update, Tim Taylor, G5 Company Secretary, told RailAdvent: “Whilst COVID-19 has hampered our ability to run our monthly open days, the team have taken the opportunity to carry out some rather messy jobs that would be difficult to do if we were welcoming visitors.”
