Train services return to Marston Vale Line between Bedford and Bletchley

Train services are set to return to the from next week as national lockdown measures continue to ease.

Train operator will be reintroducing a limited number of services on the line which runs between and .

From Monday 12 April, during the morning and afternoon peak periods trains will run, although rail replacement bus services will run at other times.

During the latest lockdown passenger numbers were low, however after consultation with local colleges and community groups, trains are now being introduced as more places prepare to reopen.

Lawrence Bowman, customer experience director for London Northwestern Railway, said: “With lockdown measures easing further, now is the right time to reintroduce trains to the Marston Vale Line to help our passengers travel with confidence.

“We encourage passengers using the train to maintain social distancing on board and remind all customers that everyone aged over 11 must wear a face covering by law, unless exempt on medical grounds.”

  • The Class 230 DEMUs working on the Marston Vale line are the most reliable stocks since Vivarail converted them as they were built as 1978 Stock. That operated on the London Underground District Line before they were replaced by the S7 Bombardier Movia stocks between 2013-2016.
