The Standard Steam Locomotive Company Limited has announced that they have been awarded the Made in mark for their project to build steam locomotive 72010 Hengist.

Work has continued at CTL Seal on building the 1,000th British Railways steam locomotive, despite the ongoing impact of COVID-19 on .

Therefore, the project has been awarded the use of the Made in Sheffield mark, becoming the latest in a long line of engineering projects to be completed in Sheffield.

Made in Sheffield is for manufacturers in the Sheffield City Region and focuses on promoting the cities manufacturing companies.

Allan Jones, Chairman of THE ‘CLAN' PROJECT, said: “We're delighted to be recognised by Made in Sheffield. We're proud to be part of the city of Sheffield's world-renowned history of engineering and manufacturing, and receiving permission to officially use the Made in Sheffield brand is a major endorsement of the work that we have done since the project moved to the city in 2017.

“We're looking forward to continuing to forge strong links with the local community in the months and years ahead, as work continues at CTL Seal to build ‘HENGIST' and fill one of the missing links in British Railways' Standard locomotive range.”
