Merseyrail has confirmed that it will increase its service level from Sunday 14th March 2021 as more staff are made available with falling COVID-19 cases.
Trains will operate every 20 minutes, Monday to Saturday, until 7:30 pm across the network, the exception being the Ellesmere Port line that will continue operating every 30 minutes.
After 7:30 pm, a 30-minute service will run across the network. A 30-minute service will operate on Sundays.
However, the operator is asking passengers to follow government advice and only travel for essential purposes.
Andy Heath, Managing Director at Merseyrail, said: “As schools prepare to reopen across the region, we are pleased to be able to increase services on our network again due to an improvement in staff availability.
“While this will be welcome news to the people of the Liverpool City Region, I must reiterate government advice that public transport is for essential journeys only at this moment in time.
“For those who need to travel, please be assured that our safety measures – such as increased cleaning – will continue as a priority to keep passengers and staff as safe as possible.”

And hopefully soon Merseyrail can start introducing the Class 777 which are replacing the Class 507 and Class 508 used on the Wirral and Northern Lines.
