ScotRail has celebrated the 10th anniversary of its much-loved fleet of Class 380 electric trains.
In the past 10 years, almost 125m passenger journeys have been made on the 38 trains, which have clocked up 50 million miles.
So, with so many miles on the clock, ScotRail has decided that they deserve a makeover.
The transformation of the 130 carriages includes new seat upholstery, new paint, new flooring and repairs to tables, bins and handrails.
The refurbishment will take place at the Shields Road depot in Glasgow.
Class 380s were introduced in December 2010, and operate on the following routes:
- Glasgow Central – Edinburgh via Carstairs
- Glasgow Central – Ayr
- Glasgow Central – Largs / Ardrossan Harbour
- Glasgow Central – Gourock / Wemyss Bay
- Edinburgh – North Berwick / Dunbar
Syeda Ghufran, ScotRail Engineering Director, said: “These trains are the real workhorses of Scotland's Railway. It's amazing to think they have clocked up almost 50 million miles during the last 10 years.
“Since their introduction, the Class 380s have been incredibly popular, and their interior face-lift will help make rail travel a more modern, comfortable and popular option for customers.”

The Class 380 Desiro should stay with ScotRail for at least 40-50 years. As Siemens have built them.
Maybe Siemens could of build more extra Class 380 Desiro EMU and Class 1xx Desiro DMU that would replace the Class 158s used in the Scottish Highlands and on the Fife Circle Lines and Borders Line.
