London King’s Cross railway station toilets upgraded in £2.3 Million project

Upgrade work on the toilets at has been completed thanks to and their £2.3m investment.

The project started in September 2019 and has seen the toilets on both the mezzanine and ground floor levels upgraded.

The upgrade means that the toilets now have improved accessibility for those that need to use a wheelchair or those who are partially sighted.

All of the soap dispensers, hand dryers and taps are now touch free, which will help passengers to travel safely.

The new facilities use 70% less energy as well as the new taps using 40% less water,

The work was completed in stages to make sure that at least one set of facilities were open and available to use.

Paul Rutter, Route Managing Director for Network Rail's East Coast Route, said: “We know from feedback received from our passengers just how important toilet facilities are to their journeys, so we're happy that this upgrade is now complete.

“The refurbished toilets look and feel more pleasant, and we've made significant changes to make them easier for everyone to use.”
