Riley & Sons (E) Ltd, who are based in Heywood, has announced that they have acquired Heritage Painting after owner Ian Hewitt decided to step back from the business.
Managing Director Ian Riley said, ‘This was a perfect opportunity for us to bring Heritage Painting into the fold of all the services we already offer to our clients. Since our relocation to Heywood a few years ago, we have already been able to add services that we just could not previously with the limited space at Baron St. With Ian's decision to step back, I felt that this was another natural evolution of Riley & Sons, with the chance to continue the success of Heritage Painting under our banner. We can now provide our clients with a ‘one stop shop' for all aspects of their engineering and overhaul requirements.'
Heritage Painting started with Ian Hewitt, who was volunteering at the East Lancashire Railway, where Ian Riley passed on tips regarding the art of coach painting
Ian Hewitt said, ‘With my decision to step back from the company to look after my health, I wanted the business to continue in a safe pair of hands for the years to come. I couldn't think of a better organization to be part of than Riley & Sons, given the remarkably successful track record we have of working together.'
Both businesses are closely linked by locomotives such as the M&GNJR B12, Black 5s No. 44871 and 45407 as well as 60103 Flying Scotsman.
Ian Riley continued, ‘This now allows Heritage Painting to continue with their work around the country for their existing client base, whilst also providing a fixed base and paint shop at our loco works for both their projects and ours. Clients shouldn't notice any difference in the service offered by Heritage Painting as it's still the same staff, offering the same quality service as the last ten years.'
