The Standard Steam Locomotive Company Limited (also known as ) has announced that it has launched its first corporate membership scheme.

The scheme will help build 72010 Hengist and will be priced at £1000 for a lifetime membership. Benefits of the scheme will include having seats on the first revenue-earning train and invitations to launch the locomotive after it has been completed.

The first company to sign up for the scheme are Diamond Seating, the sister company to CTL Seal.

Allan Jones, Chairman of THE ‘CLAN' PROJECT, said: “I'm delighted that we're launching our new corporate membership scheme to help support the progress we're making in building the 1000th British Railways Standard locomotive. The scheme will compliment our standard membership scheme, as we look to continue to build on the enthusiastic following for our project.

“We appreciate this is a difficult time for many people and businesses, but if you are keen to support us and can spare a small amount for membership of our project, it would be much appreciated.”

Despite the challenges of Coronavirus, work on Hengist has continued at pace, this includes the completion of the horn guide machining. The opportunity has been taken to blend the exhaust steam ports into the frame structure to make sure it has an unrestricted flow.

The second phase of the frame assembly is about to start and includes the front buffer beam, frame extensions, motion and slidebar brackets, whilst the wheels for the pony or trailing truck have been cast.
