Train operator, ScotRail, has confirmed that it has introduced a shuttle service between Aberdeen and Stonehaven to keep passengers moving.
The new service was introduced yesterday, 31st August 2020, and calls at Aberdeen, Portlethen and Stonehaven with train services extended to start, or finish, at Inverurie or Dyce.
A rail replacement bus service will operate between Dundee and Stonehaven.
A timescale for the return of a full Aberdeen to Glasgow service is not yet known, investigation work still ongoing into the fatal derailment. Once investigation work is complete, Network Rail will have to carry out repairs to the railway line at Carmont before trains can resume running again.
David Simpson, ScotRail Operations Director, said: “To keep customers moving while the ongoing investigations take place, and until repairs can be carried out, we have introduced a rail shuttle service between Aberdeen and Stonehaven.
“The past two weeks have been incredibly difficult for everyone affected by the events of Wednesday, 12th August, including our local teams and the local community.
“As we work towards the full return of rail passenger services in the north east, we'll continue to support those impacted by this tragic event in any way we can.”
