A report by Transport Focus has named Hull Trains as one of the best train operators in the UK.
The operator has scored a 92% satisfaction rating in the latest round of the National Rail Passenger Survey; for comparison, the UK average is 84%.
Areas in which Hull Trains scored well was staff attitude and cleanliness of trains.
Louise Cheeseman, managing director for Hull Trains, said the results highlighted the importance of open access operators in driving improvements within the rail industry. “The outcome of this survey demonstrates the vital role open access operators play in the rail industry,” she said.
“Sadly, under the current circumstances we haven't been able to run any services but we are still incredibly proud of these scores which have given the team a real boost whilst we plan a cautious and considered return.” The report lists Hull Trains as the second-best, long-distance operator in the country, scoring particularly well in the following areas:
• Helpfulness and attitude of staff on the train: Hull Trains 93%, UK long-distance average 83%
• Levels of cleanliness inside the train: Hull Trains 91%, UK long-distance average 81%
• Toilet facilities: Hull Trains 80%, UK long-distance average 63%
“These scores are compiled from customer feedback, so it really means a lot that our staff have been commended for their attitude.
“As the UK eases out of lockdown, we continue to monitor customer demand to assess when it is the right time to return. This involves a considerable amount of planning and preparation which we are working through.
“A safe and sustainable service is what the people of Hull and the wider region deserve; I look forward to sharing some positive news about a return date as soon as we can.”

I do like Hull Trains and their Class 802 Paragon IET AT300 units. Their new trains are the most reliable Bi-mode trains that Hitachi has ever built. And I do like the livery on them which shows how Kingston-Upon-Hull is a very proud East Yorkshire City with great history and pride.
Hull Trains could of ordered like 5 more Class 802 Paragons and to extend their service from London King’s Cross and Hull Paragon to Scarborough via Bridlington. If that was the plan. But their Class 802 Paragon units are very modern and are reliable since they are built as Bi-mode AT300s.
Just like the Class 800 and Class 802 used on GWR, LNER and Transpennine Express that are Bi-mode. And the Class 801 LNER are electric only AT300s as LNER named their Class 800 & Class 801 rolling stocks as “Azuma”. And Transpennine Express Class 802 as “Nova 1”. With Hitachi to continue on manufacturing the Class 803, Class 805, Class 807 and Class 810 AT300s for East Coast Trains, Avanti West Coast and East Midlands Railway.
