The Spa Valley Railway has unfortunately had to cancel their upcoming 2020 Summer Diesel Gala, due to COVID-19.
Since 2002, the Spa Valley Railway has hosted a Summer Diesel Gala every year and has proved to be a very popular event, with 37109 due to visit this year.
With heritage railways only recently being allowed to reopen once safety measures are implemented, the railway feels its best to cancel this year's gala.
On a positive note, Friday 6th to Sunday 8th of August 2021 will see the next Summer Diesel Gala, with the line hoping to arrange for planned visiting locomotive Class 37/0 No.37109 to take place next year.
Also, following discussions with owners Somerset & Dorset Loco Company, Class 20 No.D8188 will now stay at the railway for longer, following extension to the original hire agreement. This should hopefully allow the engine to run along the line later this year.
August 2020 should see the Spa Valley Railway welcoming passengers to their line, following the easing of Government restrictions.
