In Manchester, at the Ardwick depot, a derailment causes delays for passengers, and the team must jack up the train and clear it from the tracks before the morning rush hour.

The episode also shows TransPennine Express accepting the new fleet of new trains after an investment of £500m.

Liz Collins, Interim Managing Director at TransPennine Express, said: “We wanted to show customers, and regular commuters the inner workings behind our operation and so gave the cameras an access all areas pass to film each and every aspect of our business and the wonderful people we have working for us.”

“We're excited to be making our TV debut this Wednesday, we know the documentary will show some high moments, such as accepting Nova, our new fleet of trains, and some challenging moments such as storms, fare-dodgers and trespassers.

“We are looking forward to sharing these moments with viewers and giving an open and honest insight into TransPennine Express.”

  • A very good programme all round. Well made and honest. Some lovely characters and those Nova sets are excellent.

  • I did watch the programme about the Transpennine trains and the people who travel on them. Looking forward to the next programme.

  • I did watch the programme, hope every body watched it as well, the Transpennine programme was interesting.

  • A new program that is all about Transpennine Express. What about a program about Northern Trains. That would of been included as well.

  • It would be rather nice if its an honest programme, seeing as their franchise is to run trains and not be making films. If as I hope it becomes educational and interesting at the same time it may well be worthwhile. If however it is another ‘Post Office’ cover up and shambles where everyone else is continually and repeatedly blamed (because their Hecules computer was so infallible) for their poor performance and never, absolutely never, any of the TPX management, that would be a travesty for their staff who had to take the butt of the travelling public, with never a manager in sight, will be wholly unpalatable.
