It has been confirmed that Brodie Engineering has completed the second TBOX service on a Class 320 train at their Kilmarnock Depot.

The second unit, 320315, came out of the works on time, on the 20th April 2020.

Brodie Engineering is carrying out the TBOX service on Eversholt Rails fleet of 22 Class 320 trains, which are in service with ScotRail.

The TBOX services include critical overhauls on components including brakes, doors, pantograph equipment and an exterior repaint.

The service programme for the Scotrail Class 320 is due to be completed at the end of 2021.

  • What about upgrading the rest of the Class 320s (including the Class 320/4s that were originally classed as Class 321/4s and cascaded from previous train operators before) to have the TBOX service installed onto them.

ScotRail could inherit the Class 321/9s from Northern (some on loan to Greater Anglia) to add more capacity on the suburban lines in the Glasgow and Strathclyde areaa. And some of the Class 321/3/4 (downgrade to Class 320/3 & 320/4) from Greater Anglia and to have TBOX service installed onto them as well.

Plus what about installing TBOX service onto the Class 318 rolling stocks as ScotRail is not going to replace them for at least 15-20 years. But they have replaced the Class 314s with the Class 380 and Class 385 units.
