Recent overhaul update on steam locomotive Stanier Mogul No.13268

The has published an update on the overhaul of their London, Midland and Scottish Railway (LMS) Stanier Class 5 steam locomotive. The 2-6-0 ‘Mogul' Class locomotive No.13268 is being overhauled at the .

The latest overhaul work on 13268 has seen further repairs to the boiler, in particular the firebox. Firstly, the door plate for the inner copper firebox has been bolted in place.

This then allowed the boiler shop team to then fix copper patch screws, which were made in house by staff on the CNC booth.

Unfortunately, progress has been slowed by lockdown caused by COVID-19, but once safe for volunteers to return; work will pick up again to complete the locomotive.

13268 (the loco's number before the 1934 Renumbering), also carried the numbers 2968 (after the 1934 renumbering) and 42968 (its British Railways number), is the last surviving member of the LMS Stanier ‘Mogul' Class.

Currently, the engine is undergoing an overhaul at its home heritage line, the Severn Valley Railway.
