ScotRail adds train services for key workers heading to NHS Louisa Jordan hospital

Extra train services to help key workers at the new NHS Louisa Jordan hospital in Glasgow have bee announced by Scotrail.

Three early morning and four late evening trains have been added to the operator's timetable to help NHS staff travel to and from the temporary hospital at Glasgow's SEC Centre.

The additional services run Monday to Saturday, calling at Exhibition Centre, the closest station to the new hospital.

The new hospital at the SEC Centre has been built to treat patients during the coronavirus outbreak if required.

  • 0555 Motherwell to Dalmuir (calling at Exhibition Centre at 0633)
  • 0616 Dalmuir to Larkhall (calling at Exhibition Centre at 0637)
  • 0615 Motherwell to Dalmuir (calling at Exhibition Centre at 0654)
  • 2103 Dalmuir to Motherwell (calling at Exhibition Centre at 2122)
  • 2046 Motherwell to Dalmuir (calling at Exhibition Centre at 2126)
  • 2133 Dalmuir to Whifflet (calling at Exhibition Centre at 2152)
  • 2117 Motherwell to Dalmuir (calling at Exhibition Centre at 2155)

What did the officials say?

David Simpson, Operations Director, said:

“Scotland's Railway has an important role to play in supporting our country through this crisis.

“By adding additional services at Exhibition Centre station, it will help staff at the temporary NHS Louisa Jordan hospital arrive for early morning shifts, and get home late in the evening.”

Jill Young, Chief Executive of the NHS Louisa Jordan, said:

 “During this time, the outpouring of support and collaboration we have received from organisations across the country has been absolutely incredible.

“These additional services provided by ScotRail will play a vital role in helping ensure that our staff can be on site to deliver the highest possible standard of care, if required.

“On behalf of the entire team, I would like to say a sincere and heart felt thank you.”
